Days of Old

O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old. Psalm 44:1

In 1909, the Reformation Wall was constructed in Geneva to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Calvin’s birth. It is a beautiful and imposing monument, testifying to the work of God in and through the Reformed tradition. The central figures on the wall are William Farel (recruited Calvin to Geneva), John Calvin, Theodore Beza (Calvin’s successor), and John Knox (ministered in Geneva to an English speaking congregation and returned to Scotland to found Presbyterianism). It was cool to walk the monument and consider the tireless efforts these guys expended for the sake of the Gospel and to contemplate the theological legacy they left us.
